Washington County Consolidated Communications Agency (WCCCA) is the second largest 9-1-1 center in Oregon. We are a creative, innovative center that takes pride in customer service and high quality work. We are a stand-alone unit of local government comprised of 94 employees, 64 of which are dedicated 9-1-1 dispatchers. The Information Services Department is overseen by our Technical Services Manager and is comprised of 4 personnel; two Data Services Coordinators, an Information Systems Technician and a GIS Technician.

About this Position

This is an exciting time to be in IS in the public safety industry with emerging technology on the very near horizon like NextGen 911. Our IS department plays a critical role in ensuring our CAD system (Computer Aided Dispatch) operates 24/7 for the safety of the public and for the police and fire agencies we serve. KEY RESPONSIBILITES may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Perform preventative maintenance on agency computer systems, servers and related peripherals.
  • Diagnose and repair failed agency computer systems, servers and related peripherals.
  • Initially install, and on an ongoing basis, update computer systems servers and related peripheral equipment, operating systems, firmware or hardware to ensure top operating performance and secure operation of all supported equipment.
  • Generate and/or maintain systems diagrams of LAN and WAN infrastructure, including routers, switches and related equipment.
  • Assist with upgrades and/or installation of new or existing equipment with other internal and external service providers, such as WCCCA Radio Services, Frontier Telephone Systems, and our Computer Aided Dispatch Services.
  • Administrate the backup/archival and data integrity of the Agency’s computer systems and servers as well as support disaster recovery and database file restoration processes.
  • As required; develop, enhance and or modify programs, scripts, web pages, and reports.
  • Train Agency personnel on the use of computer systems, operating systems and applications.
  • The person who works in this position is subject to being a member of the Data Services after-hours, on-call rotational pool.


    A strong knowledge of computers, operating systems, and commonly used office applications and how they operate, which includes having a broad understanding of hardware and software, desktop and server operating systems and basic computer programming skills. Working knowledge of electronic equipment, networking and internet applications and security are highly desirable.

    The ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with individuals, whether members of the public or coworkers, from diverse groups and backgrounds; ability to develop and maintain excel spreadsheets and to perform basic calculations, databases and related capabilities.

    An Associate’s Degree in Information Technology or a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is preferred. In lieu of a degree, a combination of schooling and four directly-related and demonstrated years of work experience will be accepted.
